Inspire Hoops specializes in basketball training for all ages in a group or individual setting. Whether it is skill development or player development we can assist you in improving every asset of your game! Inspire Hoops will also assist in your recruitment to help you continue playing into college. We are based out of Staten Island, NY but are open to traveling to fulfill your needs!

Group Training
Our group training sessions are based on players skill levels, not ages. We have our beginner academy, intermediate academy, advanced academy and finally our college academy.
When? Where?
Individual Training
Our individual sessions are priced by the hour. Individual sessions are based on appointment only! This is a premium service. We will work on ball handling, shooting, strength and conditioning, and footwork.
Individual Training
What is your child's level?
Beginner Academy - Players who are new to the game and are learning the basic fundamentals and have not mastered offensive and defensive introduction to basketball
Intermediate Academy - Players who have played for a couple years preferably 6th grade to 8th grade to help prepare them for what do expect in high school.
Advanced Academy - High School level players only! Players will work on the fundamentals of basketball at a higher level. All workouts will be game like situations that will carry over to their development to reach a goal of playing in college whether it be D1, D2, D3, or JUCO.
College Academy - Players who are playing D1, D2, D3, or JUCO college basketball who are home getting ready for their upcoming season. Players will have access to workout everyday and be put through high level-high intensity workouts working on their weaknesses.
Founder
Doug Elwell is the founder and head trainer at Inspire Hoops. He is a native Staten Islander who became the all-time leading scorer at Monsignor Farrell High School in 2005 (1,447pts). After Farrell he earned a full athletic scholarship to Wagner College of the Northeast Conference. After being the captain his senior year at Wagner College he moved on to teaching Math at Susan Wagner High School (SI) while also leading the JV Boys' Basketball Team. After coaching for 7 years he has now focused more on training and has helped over 25 players go on and compete at the collegiate level (D1, D2, D3, and JUCO). Over the years Coach Doug has worked camps and clinics with NBA Skills trainer DJ Sackmann and has started a mentorship with Drew Hanlen. Coach Doug is currently a grassroot trainer for the NBPA (National Basketball Players Association). Currently Doug is the top varsity assistant coach at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, NY
